Aren't you just selling AMSOIL to make money?

How Long Have AMSOIL lubricants been on the market?

AMSOIL introduced the first synthetic motor oil with an API (American Petroleum Institute) Service Classification in 1972.  Since that time, AMSOIL has varied and expanded its product line, and has introduced the first synthetic lubricant on the market in nearly every major product category - from greases to hydraulic fluid to 2-cycle oils.

What are AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oils?

AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants are fuel efficient, extended life lubricants manufactured from select synthetic base stocks and special purpose additives. With very few exceptions, AMSOIL uses full PAO synthetic base-stock oils.  These lubricants provide significant improved overall performance benefits beyond conventional petroleum oils, including very long drain intervals that typically make them the cheapest oil to use on the basis of annual cost.  But beware - due to legal wrangling and a new agreement that many feel is brazenly unethical deception of consumers, a "synthetic" can now be a petroleum oil!  In fact, most "full synthetics" now on store shelves aren't a true synthetic in the traditional sense.  more info

Can AMSOIL Motor Oils be used in any engine?

Certainly, AMSOIL Motor Oils may be used in any mechanically sound gasoline or diesel fueled engine. Basically, that means they are excellent for use in any vehicle's engine.

Will AMSOIL Motor Oils void the warranty of a new vehicle?

Absolutely not! Manufacturers' warranties are based on the use of oils meeting specific API Service Classifications, for example SJ/CF. (AMSOIL lubricants meet the current API Service requirements and, thus, are perfectly suited for use in any new vehicle without affecting the validity of the new vehicle warranty. API Licensing - or "certification" - is a different issue than meeting or dramatically exceeding API Service Classification performance, because it places far higher cost burdens on true synthetic lubricants, and only licenses certification to mediocre minimum performance standards, not maximum performance.)  Please click here for detailed Warranty Law information that all consumers need to know.

Why don't the auto manufacturers install AMSOIL at the factory?

In a nutshell, the auto manufacturers' and your "friendly" dealer actually want your vehicle to wear out and have a finite life within a specific targeted period of time so you have to buy a new one, or come to the dealer for expensive repairs. Are AMSOIL Motor Oils All-Season Motor Oils?

Synthetic oils are made to protect and perform better than petroleum oils at both high and low temperature extremes. That's why every jet engine in the world is lubricated with synthetic oil. AMSOIL Motor Oils have extremely low pour points and flow readily at extremely low temperatures for easier winter starting and reduced engine wear. At high temperatures, no conventional motor oil can compare to the overall protection AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oils provide. That's extremely important for today's turbocharged and small, non-turbocharged engines!.

Will AMSOIL Motor Oils increase gas mileage?

Tighter government regulations and increases in engine manufacturers' demands are calling for more fuel efficient lubricants. AMSOIL Motor Oils reduce friction and drag better than petroleum oils and other synthetic oils, resulting in significant fuel economy increases. In a recent 1.2 million mile demonstration, AMSOIL Lubricants showed a 4.5% increase in gas mileage. Other tests have shown increases as much as 15% under certain weather and driving conditions. 

But new AMSOIL products continue to increase performance, further reducing friction and improving fuel economy.  One of my friends using the new 35,000 mile 0W-30 Severe Service Motor Oil, Phillip Southworth, got a 20% fuel economy improvement with his 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette van (85,000 miles on it) - by changing only engine oil - netting over a $600 annual fuel savings for less than $100/yr in oil and filters. 

Fuel economy improvements typically range from 3-15%.  Yet because every vehicle is different, as are driving habits and conditions, it is nearly impossible to accurately project an actual increase on your vehicle.  However, if you are the type of driver who tracks your fuel economy, it will be very unusual for you to not see an improvement in fuel economy.  If you do NOT see an improvement, it is probably due to vehicle problems or other factors degrading your fuel economy, and once those issues are corrected you will see MPG improvements: e-mail or call us and we will try to assist you.

Are AMSOIL Motor Oils compatible with other motor oils?

Yes, AMSOIL Motor Oils are compatible with all other synthetic or petroleum motor oils.  However, mixing AMSOIL motor oils with other oils will shorten the life expectancy and reduce the performance benefits.  AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed. Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL motor oils.

Why are AMSOIL Motor Oils capable of extended drain intervals?

AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oils "base stocks" are designed to be highly resistant to the destructive effects of heat and shear stresses, so they do not break down like petroleum oils.  In addition, AMSOIL assembles the highest quality additive packages possible: more costly additives which retain their beneficial properties for a long time without breaking down.  Together, this means that AMSOIL Motor Oils can provide far longer drain intervals than conventional lubricants, without compromising performance or protection.

Will AMSOIL Motor Oils decrease oil consumption?

Yes. When used in mechanically sound engines, AMSOIL Motor Oils can reduce oil consumption. ("Volatility" tests measure this.) Under test conditions, a reduction of as much as 42% was demonstrated for prolonged periods. However, this should not be taken to mean that AMSOIL Motor Oils are "cure-alls" for engines that consume oil because of mechanical problems.

Is there a recommended procedure for changing to AMSOIL Motor Oils?

There are no special requirements, however in vehicles over 2 years old or those with more than 40,000 miles, we strongly advise using AMSOIL Engine Flush first. This will ensure that the engine is clean and free of any accumulated contaminants which might have an effect on the service life of AMSOIL Motor Oils and filters. In all cases, it is good judgment to install a new AMSOIL Full-Flow Nanofiber Oil Filter (EaO) every time you change oil.  For detailed information on converting to AMSOIL engine oil, click here.

Should Oil Additives or After Market Products be added to AMSOIL Motor Oils?

No !  They are never necessary, they rarely help you, and added to AMSOIL products they will be very detrimental by degrading your oil performance!  It is a mistake to use a motor oil additive in an oil that is already formulated for the best performance in the world. What if my Mechanic says that synthetics aren't good in my case, or that long drain intervals are going to damage my engine?

Is this your trusted mechanic talking, or a vehicle service center? 

Few people in the business of selling petroleum oil and repairing vehicles know the facts about the performance of true synthetic lubricants, because the petroleum companies and OEM's deliberately don't educate them.  Of those that do, fewer still have the character it takes to tell you how to extend your drain intervals using AMSOIL technology.  And although they've had some training, they actually know very little, if anything, about the technical and engineering aspects of lubrication, filtration and oil analysis science.

The people that run the quick lubes and service centers are there to make profits by seeing you on a regular basis and do not care about extending your vehicles' life. We know this because we have tried to get some of the quick lubes and dealership service centers to carry AMSOIL extended drain interval gas engine oil (25,000 miles/1-year and 35,000 miles/1-year with the 0W-30). In rare cases they do get the big long-term picture and start offering Amsoil.  But the typical standard response is that they know the products are excellent, but if they install it their customers won't come back as often. AMSOIL then tailored a special top quality reduced mileage extended drain interval oil (the XL series of products) of 10,000 miles for gas engine vehicles for the quick lubes so they can keep customers coming back but still give them added convenience of extended drains intervals. This has proven to be an excellent program for all involved.
 

In addition, engineers from many companies have tested AMSOIL lubricants and know how good they are.  Many auto engineers even use AMSOIL technology in their own vehicles.  As OEM "insiders", we strongly believe they will not recommend it in technical training or owner's manuals for purely "political reasons" that all boil down to company profits. This explains why OEM mechanic training has been negative on true synthetic lubes for decades.

There appears to be a motive problem in the marketplace: oil companies need to sell large volumes of oil, and OEM engineers can tell you from personal experience that auto companies want your engine and powertrain to have somewhat of a finite life. Enough life so that you are a very satisfied and happy customer and will come back and buy another one, yet not so long that you won't need to buy another vehicle for many years. So petroleum oil appears to perfectly accomplish the objectives of both the petroleum oil companies and the equipment OEM's.

Yet AMSOIL has been proven for 35 years to prevent your vehicle from having a short 150,000 to 300,000 mile life. For example, I have an article about an AMSOIL user with 731,000 miles on his 1993 Ford Aerostar on the original engine and transmission. He was using AMSOIL from the beginning. This type of mileage is not uncommon when using AMSOIL synthetic lubricants. Now, what do you think would happen if everybody used AMSOIL and got that much mileage on their vehicles?

Sure, the auto companies would like to hear reports like that once about one of their vehicles every year or two --  but not on a large scale.  And they don't advertise these cases for fear that too many consumers would learn how it was done, starting an avalanche with major negative economic implications.

I WANT ONE MOTOR OIL that will work superbly for every 4-cycle engine at my house/farm/business , whether diesel or gasoline, backhoe or ATV, John Deere diesel tractor or a gasoline lawn tractor. 
Is that a fantasy?

OIL FILTERS:
