The Immense Power of
Bypass Filtration for Engine Oil
As automotive
engineers, we're sometimes guilty of telling people
too quickly that they don't really need bypass
filtration. Sure, most people don't require
it... but
nanofiber bypass filters do have immense and
unequalled power in reducing maintenance costs,
extending equipment life and keeping maximum fuel
economy - not to mention the environmental benefit
of reducing engine oil use and oil dumping by over
90%. What about your wallet's impact?
Fact is, if you're going to keep your vehicle for
three years or more, there's little doubt that a
bypass filter pays for itself. It will save
you money whether your fleet size is one vehicle or
ten thousand, and no-one can point it out better
than Al Amatuzio did here. - From The President's Desk...
Do you remember the last time fuel prices went
through the roof? Were you an AMSOIL Dealer when
there were lines at the gas pumps and everybody was
looking for
ways to achieve better fuel economy? If
you were, you'll recall those as times of incredible
growth for AMSOIL and our Dealers. Well, here we go
again! What does that have to do with
bypass
filtration on school buses? Just wait.
We're all interested in saving money. So when the
price of fuel skyrockets, we look for ways to
improve fuel economy to save money at the pump. You
and I know there are a number of AMSOIL products
that will help do that, and NOW is the time to let
everyone else know! Every automotive lubricant,
additive or filter we make is designed to save
motorists money.
But the one product that can help save the most
money is the one most often overlooked, and that is
our incredible by-pass oil filter. When you combine
this outstanding filter with our premium synthetic
motor oils, you have a combination that not only
saves money by reducing fuel consumption, it reduces
the amount of oil you have to buy, it reduces the
number of oil changes you will need, it reduces the
amount of oil to be disposed of, it reduces engine
wear and tear, and it reduces our dependence on
foreign oil.
Can you imagine how much oil we could save if every
car, truck, boat, and stationery engine run in this
country was equipped with an AMSOIL By-Pass Oil
Filter and our synthetic motor oil? Think about it!
Instead of changing oil every 3,000 miles or so,
motorists could extend oil drains indefinitely.
Even without this filter, you can go almost ten
times longer than 3,000 miles by using our oil, but
add the by-pass filter and you might stretch that to
twenty, thirty or who knows how many times longer.
Haywood Gray went 400,000 miles on one oil change
and tests show he could have kept running on the
same oil even longer. What would happen if every
truck on the road did that? How much oil do you
suppose we would save?
The word is getting out about our filters. For
instance, one state's transportation department
purchased almost 600 AMSOIL By-Pass Filters in order
to extend drain intervals and reduce wear in state
school bus engines. They placed their order after
extensive testing of many oil filter systems, many
of which cost two to three times more than our
by-pass filter. The tests, which included actual
field tests in these school busses, proved the
AMSOIL Filter was far superior to the competition in
every respect. The bottom line was they had to be
able to save money to justify their purchase. They
are doing that every day now with AMSOIL!
AMSOIL Synthetic Oils and By-Pass Filters have been
featured in a couple of magazines recently, as well.
Power and Motor Yacht Magazine did an extensive
feature on synthetic oils for use in marine
applications in their April issue and included some
very positive testimonials for AMSOIL. One
commercial fisherman who also runs a marine service
business says he doubles the drain interval and
prolongs his overhaul intervals on his Caterpillar
3406E diesel engine by using AMSOIL Synthetic 15W-40
Marine and Diesel Motor Oil and our By-Pass Filter.
He acknowledges synthetics are "pricey," but
considering the cost of marine engine service these
days, he figures you can buy a lot of synthetic oil
with the money you save on oil changes and
overhauls. The same holds true with just about any
kind of engine service you buy today, which further
reinforces the economies of AMSOIL products in any
engine application!
We also got some excellent press in the March issue
of Woodall's Southern RV Magazine. In an article
entitled "Rx for RV's," columnist Bill Farlow writes
about the value of synthetic motor oil and proper
filtration. He also likes the AMSOIL By-Pass Oil
Filter and says AMSOIL is his preferred synthetic
motor oil.
Both writers emphasize they rely on oil analysis to
determine drain intervals. In other words, they
don't drain oil at predetermined intervals but only
when oil analysis indicates they should. Now that's
the way to change oil! If every motorist only
changed oil when it was actually needed rather than
following the recommendations of self-serving oil
companies, we could conserve enough oil to end our
energy crisis today!
Soon, changing oil only when it's necessary won't be
a matter of choice but of necessity, because there
is only a limited supply of oil. Eventually,
everyone will have to get very serious about
conserving what's left. AMSOIL provides you with the

commercial and fleet applications in cars and light, medium and heavy trucks
which can filter particles down to less than one micron and are 89% efficient
at 1 micron, making oil changes virtually unnecessary and virtually eliminating engine wear.
(A standard full-flow oil filter can only filter to 20 microns with any
reasonable efficiency, but 5-25 microns is widely accepted as the wear-particle
size range.)

AIR FILTERS:
The MOST IMPORTANT filter on the M1A1 Abrams
battle tank is its' nanofiber air filter.
The MOST Important filter on YOUR vehicle is also the air

It's far better, and easier, to keep wear particles out of the
engine than it is to attempt filtering them out of the engine oil. Yet
filter companies and vehicle manufacturer's are strangely silent about actual
